This is my first post on STEEMIT HEALTH, I'm interested in becoming one of the contestants participating in the Mental Health Topic. Mental health is an integral part of achieving a healthy life, meaning that humans as holistic beings are related to 3 elements including organobiology, psychology and socio-culture.
If one of the above elements cannot be fulfilled properly, humans are not categorized as healthy. Just imagine if you look physically healthy but are mentally disturbed, this will have an impact on your survival and quality of life in the future.

1. What do you know about mental health?

I do not describe mental health scientifically from the perspective of medicine and psychiatric specialization, but here I will describe mental health in general in language that is common and easily understood by the general public.

Mental health can be defined as a condition in which a person is in a normal state, meaning that he is able to control his psychology through an ego/cooping defense mechanism. This condition will encourage the creation of a productive quality of life. As social beings, humans are inseparable from social interaction, there is a reciprocal relationship between one another so as to produce effective communication as expected.

Conversely, the inability to control emotions in social interaction will actually trigger conflict and cause psychological stress such as stress, social isolation and other negative activities.

That is a general definition that I can describe in the first point.

2. What causes mental health disorders?

Mental health can be caused by various factors:

  1. Genetic Factors
In certain cases, genetics is a predisposing factor for mental health disorders. In a simpler explanation, I would like to illustrate that in a gene that is passed on to children with families who have a history of mental disorders, it will be a carrier trait. Psychological Factors Individuals with a family history of mental disorders are more likely to experience mental health disorders. For this reason, a good coping defense mechanism is needed in managing stress with various backgrounds.
  2. Head Injury Factor
Head trauma can also cause mental disorders, brain and nervous system disorders due to collisions that occur will damage the function of the brain and nerves so that they cannot work optimally so that the head becomes another vital organ besides the heart, lungs and kidneys whose health must be maintained.
  3. Psychological Factors
Psychological burden will have an impact on a person's mental health, currently many suicides occur due to the inability of individuals to manage their psychology, what is needed is how individual efforts to manage stress through good coping defense mechanisms. In certain cases, mental disorders are indeed due to psychological factors that do not occur spontaneously, but over a long period of time, a person who experiences a psychological disorder will slowly experience a phase of mental disorder, starting at mild and even severe levels. Stress is a mild mental disorder, but if not managed properly it will have serious effects such as self-isolation, low self-esteem.

3. And how do you manage your mental health?

Think positively, that is the main keyword in maintaining mental health, face every problem with a smile, fill it with positive activities and share problems experienced with people closest and considered trusted, consult a psychiatrist or psychologist if needed .

Managing stress with the right technique is an important foundation in maintaining mental health, I have experienced various difficult phases since the conflict in Aceh, economic limitations in completing baccalaureate education and professional education, I only do one thing, keep thinking positively because of every burden and pressure will soon be over and everything is in my hands, my job is just to try and get closer to the creator.

This is my brief view in general about Mental Health, maybe other contestants have different explanations and I will describe it in general terms so hopefully it can be easily understood by readers
